Let's discuss your repair options.

New Driveway Installation

Our Installation Process:

Excavate to correct depth (typically 12-18 inches for residential driveways)

Install and compact gravel base thoroughly

Grade for effective drainage away from structures

Standard Residential Laneway: We lay 3 1/4" of asphalt, compacted to 2 1/2"

Ensure edges are finished and compacted correctly

Why a Strong Base Matters:

The gravel base determines your driveway's lifespan. Ontario's freeze-thaw cycles demand substantial base material to prevent cracking and settling. We install 12-18 inches of compacted gravel, not the minimal amounts some contractors use to cut costs. A proper base means a driveway that lasts.

When to Repair vs. Replace:

Not every cracked driveway needs complete replacement. We'll take a look and give you an honest recommendation:

Repair is often sufficient when:

A single solid black circle centered on the left side of a white background.

Cracks are confined to specific areas

Overall surface condition remains good

Damage hasn't reached the base layer

The driveway hasn't been repeatedly sealed (sealing causes premature breakdown)

Replacement may be necessary when:

Cracks are widespread throughout the surface

The driveway has been sealed repeatedly over many years

Base failure has occurred

The surface is extremely old and deteriorated

Our Repair Options:

  • Patching for localized damage
  • Crack filling to prevent water penetration
  • Resurfacing for widespread surface wear
  • Partial replacement of severely damaged sections

Driveway Maintenance Facts

DO NOT seal your driveway.

Driveway sealers shrink and pull the asphalt surface apart, causing premature cracking. The sealer also increases heat absorption, drying out the asphalt and making it brittle faster.

DO:

Keep it clean from debris

Address cracks early before they spread

Avoid using sharp objects that gouge the surface

Be aware that sun exposure will cause natural fading over time

DON'T:

Power wash or spray out gravel pieces (gravel holds the asphalt together)
